Standish is surrounded by countryside and a number of golf courses, including Haigh Country Park with its’ woodland trails and the Haigh High Ropes adventure course. The town is within driving distance of larger towns in Lancashire, including Bolton, Wigan and Preston, while travelling further north brings you to the Lake District.
Transport
Churchfields is within a short drive of both the M6 and the M61, which provide routes into Preston, Wigan, Bolton and Manchester. The village is also between Liverpool and Manchester, with both airports around an hours’ drive away. There are two train stations in the neighbouring villages of Appley Bridge and Gathurst, both of which providing rail links to the seaside town of Southport and the bustling city of Manchester, while changing at Wigan connects you to Preston, Blackpool and the Lake District.
