Houghton Conquest is a sleepy village in rural Bedfordshire, the remains of Houghton House still stand proud to the north of the village. The village is just over 7 miles from the warm and welcoming city of Bedford, which is bursting with culture and history. The Great River Ouse runs right through the city centre, providing the opportunity to relax and enjoy tea in quaint riverside cafes, perhaps while taking in a rowing regatta, or why not take in a show at the Bedford Corn Exchange? There are also a number of riverside walking routes for those who enjoy the outdoors, including The Embankment, a mile-long footpath which takes you through beautiful tree-lined parkways. Bedford Park is on the outskirts of the city, and has a number of sports facilities including tennis courts, a swimming pool and a bandstand which hosts outdoor music events.

The nearest train station to Houghton Conquest can be found at Stewartby, where you can change at Bletchley for onward travel to London and the north.
