    Shopping

Standish high street has all the amenities you’ll need including boutiques and tea rooms. For a day out shopping, you’ll find the Grand Arcade Shopping Centre in nearby Wigan, while the cities of Liverpool and Manchester are a short drive away, bringing with them inner city shopping precincts with plenty of shops and restaurants for a great day out.

    Things to do

Standish is surrounded by countryside and a number of golf courses, including Haigh Country Park with its’ woodland trails and the Haigh High Ropes adventure course. In the town centre you’ll find a number of open parklands which are ideal for dog walkers, and nearby Ashfield Park has open spaces where families can enjoy a walk or a kickabout in the park. The town is within driving distance of larger towns in Lancashire, including Bolton, Wigan and Preston, while travelling further north brings you to the Lake District.

    Transport

Churchfields is within a short drive of both the M6 and the M61, which provide routes into Preston, Wigan, Bolton and Manchester. The village is also between Liverpool and Manchester, with both airports around an hours’ drive away. There are two train stations in the neighbouring villages of Appley Bridge and Gathurst, both of which providing rail links to the seaside town of Southport and the bustling city of Manchester, while changing at Wigan connects you to Preston, Blackpool and the Lake District.
